Grassland Animals
 
 

          Some of the animas that live in
     the African grasslands are ( look at the
     list below):
 
 

 Mammals
 

Cheetah - an animal that uses it's speed to catch it's prey.

Lion a large, strong animal of the cat family, lives in prides.

Elephant - an animal that uses it's trunk to eat, drink, and pick up heavy things. An elephant can pick up about 5 tons.

Hippopotamus - an animal that lives in the water and uses its swimming skills  to get food at the bottom of a lake.

Giraffe - an animal  that uses it's long neck to reach the top of the trees to eat.

Wildebeest - in Africa Wildebeest are called Gnu. Gnus travel from one place to another. They have cross rivers, and travel for miles to look for better food.

Zebra -  animal that has brown and white stripes from up close. This animal depends on it's stripes to hide from it's predators which is called camouflage. This animal is a vegetarian.

Baboon - This animal follows elephants for food. This animal eats tree roots, and
elephant grass.
 

Birds

African Ibis - This animal wades in the water for food. After fishing it stands on any thing dry.

African Vulture- this animal depends on carnivores for food because it eats the left overs from the carnivores' hunt.
