Fog
What is fog and how does it form ?

Fog is tiny water droplets formed in the air. The little tiny droplets are evaporated water from lakes, oceans, rivers and moist plants. Fog can also mix with smoke and  make smog.

Different Types of Fog

Fog has many names.  Different kinds of fog are called different names which can be four different types of fog; Advection, Radiation , Upslope and Precipitation.

Advection fog is moist air that goes over cold land or water. The air rises and tiny little water droplets stay in the air. That's how Advection fog is formed.

Radiation fog is next on the list. It is a fog that can only form on land. Overnight, radiation cools water temperatures slowly while on land it cools faster and is colder than air in the sky. Fog  forms but wears off in the morning.

Upslope is a type of fog, too. It is when air that is evenly cold rises when wind blows it up to a mountain slope. That's were it gets it's name. Mountains are Up and have Slopes.

Precipitation is last but not least. This type of fog can form in snow or a hard hitting rain storm. This fog mainly forms in cold or warm fronts.

Have you seen fog and didn't know?
How does it look?
Fog looks like what you would see in the morning. A cloud down on the ground, but it's not called a cloud touching the ground, it's called fog! You can see it sometimes in the early morning when you leave to go to school.
